For Jeff

Brynn and Jeff
Jeff and I, doing what we did best, laughing our asses off. Summer 2015 in Provincetown, MA.

It’s the middle of the night,
We’ll be arm in arm in my dreams.
Talking to the stars and each other,
Cracking up, just you and me.

And in no time at all,
We’ll laugh, our cheeks will burn.
You listened to my story
And now it’s your turn.

Months pass and I miss you,
we’ll be together by the sea.
Like the first day we met
there’s no place I’d rather be.

Time flies for us both,
we’ll catch up soon enough.
You told me what scares you
and you make me feel tough.

You invite me, but work wins,
we’ll have other trips I think…
but a month later we found out,
life can change with one blink.

I’m driving to see you
We’ll joke to stay sane.
The gang was back together,
you are happy but in pain.

There are good weeks and bad,
“we’ll be there soon” I write.
I was frozen with fear
But I’m here now to fight.

I try to help, you say no
“We’ll always be there for you,” I say.
But like always you gave me strength,
so I listen and I pray.
