There are very few times in your life
when your two best friends become husband and wife.
So Luke and Kelly here’s my ode to you:
To kick-off the weekend you both say I do.
“Hey, hockey kid!” Is this how it works?
I twisted in my seat; he must have seen my caps shirt?
And though making friends was never really my “thing,”
Budick’s use of 10 for gravity united us in disdain.
From then it was our mutual love of hockey and German-made cars,
and Luke’s silent acceptance during my post-test meltdowns at the bars.
That I came to realize in this Rangers fan with an exceptionally high IQ,
I’d found a best friend, as loyal as he is true.
So the night I finally met Kelly, it came as no surprise,
she was just as down-to-earth as Luke, truly one of the guys.
Kelly beamed into the bar, her hair a blonde beam in the night,
Gorgeous and outgoing, her personality as fun as it is bright.
Always by my side through challenges and heartache,
their support and guidance unwavering and never fake.
With Kel I know I’ll always get the truth, even when hard to hear,
navigating the tumult of life is always easier with them near.
Luke and Kelly I’m proud to call you my friends, truly grateful for you both.
Your partnership soon to be made official in front of those you love most.
So everyone please join me, and raise your glass these two,
I love you more than words, and can’t wait to hear you both say “I do.”
